Various timber products show excellent technical characteristics, and end users also appreciate the aesthetic value and appeal of living with wood. The German sawmill industry is one of the main global players and provides high end quality timber products. Forests in Germany are managed sustainably and all wood products are certified in accordance to leading international technical standards.

German Timber Promotion Fund

The German Timber Promotion Fund is the main, non-profit marketing agency of the German forest and wood-based industry. Its objective is to promote the use of wood products to both domestic and international markets. Primary areas of focus include:

  • Providing appropriate information on sustainable forestry and on the characteristics and application of wood products
  • Informing the general public about the benefits of using wood
  • Supporting communication and cooperation within the wood-based industry sector
  • Supporting research and transfer of innovation concerning wood products

The logo GERMANTIMBER is used by the German Timber Promotion Fund to introduce international markets to the benefits of using wood products. It‘s also used to inform and familiarise these markets about the capacity of the domestic forest and wood-based industry. Major fields of international marketing activities include:

  • Providing technical information on modern timber products from sustainable forestry and its wide range of application
  • Providing and maintaining the internet website www.germantimber.com
  • Participating in international trade shows on wood products and organizing specific informational events
  • Participating in the European marketing cooperation European Wood
